I made a gain when I told them that the guitar was tradition, that Garcia used to do it that way, but I lost all that ground when somebody in the Taste Department decided that a real guitar would look too much like the Roxy, and for a day it was off again. Then I got Wurlitzer to help me out. They sent down an instrument that was a beauty.
And he usurped Dave Myers as ‘the funny one’ by delivering comedy and accuracy not a step seemed out of place. The judges argued over how much of a cha cha it was, but ultimately it was entertaining, polished dance and earned him a respectable 26 which would have been much higher if it wasn’t for nit picking Craig Revel Horwood’s stingy 3.Another 26 er was Rachel Riley and, oh dear, what does she keep doing to upset the wardrobe mistress? Dressed in a random ensemble of red beret, leopard print waistcoat and nasty mustard trousers, her bank robbery themed quickstep was fun but she still moves a bit stiffly.Rachel Riley wasn’t lucky when it came to this week’s outfit (Picture: BBC)Craig’s advice to improve her glide was to clench her bum cheeks, to which Len replied, ‘you’ll be clenching your bum cheeks tomorrow when they do your hip,’ referring to Craig’s hip operation. He’s becoming the bionic man thanks to a new, titanium one which he needs due to ‘years of can cans and dropping the splits.’ Anyway, Len’s comment prompted the second funniest thing of the evening Bruno laughing so hard he fell off his silver chair.Susanna Reid let her wild side out with a hilarious samba to Shakira she was being ‘rescued’ by an Indiana Jones styled Kevin from Grimsby and nearly gave Len palpitations with her ‘bounce, bum and bongos.’ After the studied, controlled elegance of her previous efforts it was nice to see her letting her hair down, even though it only earned her 29.Shame ice maiden Sophie Ellis Bextor, who earned 35 for another impeccable turn dancing the foxtrot, can’t or won’t do the same.Dave Myers, in his own words ‘buffed up to oblivion,’ was instantly forgettable this week with his 23 point waltz to the Eagles, and enthusiastic but not quite with it Deborah and Julien also landed his score.Dave Myers performed a forgettable waltz (Picture: BBC)Right down the bottom was Fiona Fullerton still proving you can be a Bond girl but be as sexy as a turnip on the dance floor.
Madison is an old river town that had a number of wealthy families in the 1800’s. Of course as river traffic slowed in the 1900’s, the town struggled but is now thriving with many historical sites, restored homes, antique and art shops. It offers a number of festivals throughout the year and the Madison Regatta (Hydroplane racing) each spring.
